The Instagram Pod is the new breaking trend on Instagram. The social media network changed its algorithm in June 2016. That means that images or videos which have more likes, clicks and interaction are more likely to show up at the top of your Instagram newsfeed.
My photography page on Instagram suffered since the change of the Algorithm. Nowadays, Instagram works like Facebook and remember that Instagram is owned by Facebook.
Added to this, Instagram’s community grown to over 600 million monthly active users, so it is getting harder and harder to grow. But the answer, for now, seems to be the Instagram Pods.
What is an Instagram Pod about?
Due to the problem with the new Instagram algorithm, it seems like the community became creative and had the idea of Instagram Pods. Furthermore, an Instagram Pod contains a lot of people with the same interests. It is a message network which tries to beat the Instagram algorithm by liking and commenting each other posts – thus keeping engagement high. This means that the content belonging to your members are more likely to appear in Instagram’s “Explore” overview which means a higher interaction. Some groups are strict and expect you to be a very active user, posting at least once a day and expecting you to like and comment posts soon after they’re posted.
“A Pod is a family of dolphins who live together in harmony and support one another.” says photographer Natalie Franke. “The members of your group become your Instagram family and work to support you as you grow your platform. Think of it like a group of cheerleaders who help one another on Instagram through likes and meaningful comments.”
How to join an Instagram Pod
Joining an Instagram Pod can be very tricky. Maybe you will be invited into a group by other Instagram community member or your network will be worthwhile at this point. Important is that you share the same interests of the Instagram group e.g. photography or blogging. Try to search for the tag “Pod” on Instagram. Twitter is also a good way to join such a network. Look for some messages for requests to join a Pod.
Unless you are not invited in an Instagram Pod group, you have the possibility to create your own group. This is more or less not as much as complicated like being invited into an efficient Instagram Pod. Send a message to your network and ask if they would like to join. Encourage others to join.
The Instagram Pod is very effective
Finally, the Instagram community see a large increase in followers and engagement. This is very useful if you would like to build up sponsorship deals or a great following community on Instagram.
